Q.WHAT KIND OF DECOMPOSITION HAPPENS INSIDE ORBIN ?

Aerobic decomposition is accelerated by Orbin Composting Accelerator that breaks down waste and converts it into nutrient rich compost and liquid manure fertilizer.

Q. HOW MUCH WASTE CAN I PUT IN ORBIN EVERYDAY ?

Up to 2 kg of wet or dry organic-waste per day. It would ideal if you avoid adding large chunks of food waste. Kitchen waste such as watermelon rinds, corn cobs, large loaf of bread, Jackfruit / Pineapple or similar fruit skin etc can be broken into small portions and then added. Kindly remember that the quantity of waste is not exceeding 2 kg at one time.

Q. WHERE CAN I KEEP MY ORBIN ?

ORBIN can be placed in the Utility area, near a Kitchen or in the balcony or any place safe where it is not exposed to direct sunlight and rain. The unit has been designed keeping in mind the aesthetics, convenience and possible problems of rodents. The lid is provided with a monkey lock. Also the unit should be placed away from any source of heat like oven or stove.

Q. WHEN DO I HARVEST MY FIRST READY COMPOST ?

After installation, when everyday waste is added to the unit, the ready compost can be harvested within 30-40 days. Kindly note, different kinds of waste take different time spans to completely decompose. If you try to harvest compost before the complete process, you may find some partially decomposed material.

It is suggested to wait for the prescribed time, and meanwhile the liquid manure can be collected 1-2 times a week. The size of ORBIN has been thoughtfully designed to allow an individual household to add their everyday organic waste in the bin, with enough space left for moisture and air circulation. After the first time, you can collect the nutrient rich compost as and when required. ORBIN is a continuous flow system, the waste you put today will turn into compost in a few weeks !

Q. HOW CAN I REMOVE COMPOST AND COMPOST TEA ?

There are two separate compartments at the bottom portion of ORBIN. The top part contains the ready compost and the bottom drawer collects the Liquid manure. The compost can simply be scooped out as and when required and the Liquid Manure can be emptied out conveniently by pulling out the drawer.

Q. HOW USEFUL IS COMPOST TEA ?

Liquid manure is a clear light golden brown liquid that is a natural bio-fertilizer and bio-pesticide. A brilliant plant tonic, it is very useful as a foliar spray. It is alkaline in nature and can be sprinkled or sprayed onto the plants or leave as is or after dilution.

Q. WILL THERE BE FOUL SMELL WHILE DECOMPOSING PROCESS ?

Orbin Composting Accelerator is a specialized, well tested composting accelerator which when used to bury the waste will ensure no foul odor. A well maintained unit will not cause any inconvenience. The compost and liquid manure have an earthy smell to it. Again, we would like to reinforce the importance of keeping the Do’s and Don'ts in mind while adding the organic waste. What you put in ORBIN , is what you harvest.
